Terry Reilly Health Services (TRHS) has announced their plans to transform the Penny Wise Drug Store in Caldwell into a four-story medical and housing complex. The first floor will include exam rooms, lab, X-ray, counseling offices and the three stories above will include 50 housing units for people 55 years old and older.
This project maximizes resource efficiency and land utilization, creating access to both housing and affordable medical, dental, mental health and case management services for a shared senior population, as well as the broader Caldwell community. For those who live in the complex, they will find an attractive rental community in Downtown Caldwell that allows for immediate service availability and access to Downtown Caldwell, eliminating transportation barriers facing seniors with compounding quality of life implications.
“There's only so much as we as health care providers can do. When a lot of times what impacts people's health is where they live, what they have available for food, their ability to move around in the community and so for us it's looking at what are some of the larger issues facing the Caldwell community and the people that live here that are impacting their health. We know that housing right now is a critical piece of that, there's a real housing shortage," said Heidi Hart, CEO, TRHS.
