Introductory level training
Unfortunately, most cases of chronic diseases faced in medical settings are preventable through changes in behavior (e.g., smoking cessation, weight loss, healthy diet, physical activity, taking medications as prescribed). Because such health behaviors are predictors of decreased health risk, health behavior change is an important element of our work with patients. MI is an evidence-based and strength-based conversation style that helps people resolve ambivalence and increase commitment for making a behavior change. |
