||IPCA is excited to announce that they will be hosting a Skills Training to Identify and Assist Patients in Crisis in your region as part of our ongoing behavioral health integration work.
Lyn McArthur, PhD Licensed Psychologist, Behavioral Health Clinical Director from Health West will be training your staff on handling crisis situations. The training will include 4 areas:
The basics on handling crisis such as crisis definitions, risk factors and triggers, and common behavioral health issues that lead to crisis.
How to approach crisis situations including basic intervention skills, telephone skills, walk-in skills, dealing with violent/inappropriate behavior, and overdose/substance abuse crisis response.
How to assess for dangerousness including risk factors for dangerousness and establishing a safety plan.
Addressing employee burnout or compassion fatigue and ways to care for and protect yourself.
This training is designed for any employee involved with direct patient contact, including front desk/reception, medical support staff (i.e. MA, phlebotomist, nurses, CNAs), and medical providers.
